Show Pelhams

The Show Pelham is a dainty pelham that has been designed specifically to show off the head in the show ring. The show pelham has short shanks (approx 5 cms) and is very minimal so that it doesn’t detract from the horse in front of the judge. The small port in the mouthpiece can help to alleviate tongue pressure that can be associated with mullen mouth bits.

Pelham bits attempt the same results as a double bridle, but using only one bit. They work on the points of control in the mouth, plus the poll and curb groove. The result of pressure on the curb groove, is a pivoting action, causing the head to tilt into the conventional ‘on the bit’ position.
