The Shires Sweet Iron Beval Bits or loop ring snaffles have a Sweet Iron mouthpiece and a copper lozenge link. The double joint removes the nutcracker action associated with single jointed bits.
The placement of the rein in the bottom loop (within the snaffle ring) acts to increase pressure on the poll when the rein aid is applied.
The bevel bit or wilke is an ideal bit for use in the showring. The Sweet Iron is darker in colour and is designed to oxidise (rust) and produce a sweet taste to help with mouthing as it encourages salivation. The copper portion also promotes warmth, salivation and softening.
4.5″-5″ bits have a 55mm ring
5.5″-6″ bits have 70mm rings
16mm mouthpiece
