The Jointed Loop Ring Snaffle or Wilkie is a single jointed bit. The single joint creates a nutcracker action within the mouth, so is considered to be more severe than the french link or lozenge.
The placement of the rein in the bottom loop (within the snaffle ring) acts to increase pressure on the poll when the rein aid is applied
