Rugby Pelhams – Mullen Mouth

The Rugby Pelham can be used for showing as it mimics the appearance of the double birdle, without the fuss of two bits.

This is good for horses whose mouth is not big enough for two bits Rugby pelham bits attempt the same results as a double bridle, but using only one bit. They work on the points of control in the mouth, plus the poll and curb groove.

The result of pressure on the curb groove, is a pivoting action, causing the head to tilt into the conventional ‘on the bit’ postition. Pelham bits are good for strong horses. The mullen mouth is good for horses the may be reluctant to take a contact in the jointed or french link rugby pelhams.
