Numerous equine nutritional studies carried out over recent years in Europe, Scandinavia and the United States have indicated beneficial effects in Vitamin E supplementation. It’s abilities as an anti-oxidant, in stabilising cell membranes, thus protecting them from damage caused by free radicals, have been well documented. These studies have also tended to indicate a beneficial effect on performance by enhancement of oxygen delivery to the lungs. Like Vitamin E, to which it has a special relationship, Selenium is of vital importance to growth, fertility and optimal muscle function.
Many regions scattered all over Britain and Europe are known to be soil selenium deficient and supplementation in areas such as these is to be recommended. Lysine, an amino acid, is essential for optimal growth and development. Low in feeds of non-meat origin, it is found to be deficient in many equine diets. NAF Vitamin E, Selenium & Lysine has been rigorously researched and formulated and is the standard form of specialised supplementation in many of Europe’s leading yards and breeding stations.
A 1kg tub fed at 45g per day will last 22 days. 1 measure (15 g) supplies 735 iu Vit E, 0.15 mg Selenium and 683 mg Lysine.
Recommended dose 3 measures (45 g) per day given in feed, (giving 0.45 mg Selenium per day). Preferably fed in last evening feed as better absorption is achieved during the resting period.
