The Jointed Cheltenham Gag is a single jointed bit.
The single joint creates a nutcracker action within the mouth, so is considered to be more severe than the french link or lozenge. The running cheeks of the Cheltenham Gag increase the amount of poll pressure that can be applied by running through the ring of the bit and attaching to the reins.
The Cheltenham Gag also applies pressure to the corners of the mouth.
The Cheltenham gag can be used with nylon or leather cheeks and can be used with single or double reins.
